KGB Aviation and Canada West Avionics Announce Strategic Agreement to Accelerate Deployment of Next-Generation Cockpit Voice Recorders Across Canada

Buffalo, NY — 25 March 2026 — KGB Aviation Solutions (“KGB Aviation”), a leading manufacturer of advanced flight data and cockpit voice recorders, and Canada West Avionics (“CWA”), a premier Canadian avionics integration and certification organization, are pleased to announce a strategic agreement to support the rapid adoption of compliant, next-generation cockpit voice recorder (CVR) solutions across the Canadian aviation market.

As Canada prepares to implement its updated cockpit voice recorder mandate in May 2026, requiring CVRs to include an internal Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS), KGB Aviation and CWA have aligned to deliver a proven, certified, and future-ready solution to operators.

Under this agreement, CWA has successfully developed Approved Model List Supplemental Type Certificates (AML STCs) for the KGB Aviation SkyLog-25 recorder, covering both Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft. The SkyLog-25 not only meets the upcoming Canadian requirement for internal RIPS but also exceeds it by providing full 25-hour cockpit voice recording capability positioning operators ahead of evolving global regulatory standards.

Deliveries of the SkyLog-25 to CWA have already commenced, with installations completed and aircraft currently flying with the system. Early adoption has been strong, driven by the recorder’s lightweight design, ease of integration, and advanced capabilities.

“We are proud to partner with Canada West Avionics to bring a compliant and forward-looking solution to the Canadian market,” said Maria Balys, President, KGB Aviation Solutions. “The SkyLog-25 not only meets the May 2026 mandate with its internal RIPS capability but also delivers 25 hours of recording giving operators a future-proof solution at a highly competitive cost of ownership.”

The Canadian market has shown tremendous interest in the SkyLog-25, particularly as operators seek to go beyond minimum compliance. While the current mandate does not require 25-hour audio recording, many operators are proactively upgrading to ensure compatibility with international regulations, especially for aircraft that may be sold or operated in jurisdictions where 25-hour CVRs are required.

Through CWA’s AML STCs, operators benefit from streamlined certification and installation, significantly reducing downtime and integration costs. The combined KGB–CWA solution enables operators to efficiently meet regulatory requirements while enhancing long-term asset value and operational flexibility.

“This agreement reflects our commitment to providing practical, certified solutions that meet both current and future regulatory demands,” said Gordon A. Bott, President, Canada West Avionics. “By leveraging our AML STCs with the SkyLog-25, we are enabling Canadian operators to upgrade quickly, confidently, and cost-effectively.”

With aircraft already flying and demand continuing to grow, KGB Aviation and Canada West Avionics are well-positioned to support operators across Canada in advance of the May 2026 compliance deadline.
